Ingredients for Baked Banana Oat Dog Treats

- 1 cup mashed ripe banana (2-3 medium to large overripe bananas)
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
- 2 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Then place some parchment paper on a cookie sheet.

In a large bowl add the mashed bananas and the peanut butter.

Mix well. The mixture should look creamy and slightly sticky.

Add the oats to the wet ingredients.

Stir until all the oats are covered with the peanut butter banana mixture. It will be sticky.
Chill for about 30 minutes. This makes it easier to roll into balls.
Remove from the fridge and roll into balls then flatten.

Place the flattened treats on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool completely on a wire rack or directly on the baking sheet.

Once the treats are cooled, give one to your dog.

This is Luna and Morgan’s favorite step, make sure not to skip it! 😂
Storing the Treats
Homemade banana dog treats can be stored in a sealed container at room temperature for a couple of days.
For longer storage, refrigerate them for up to a week.
Want to make a big batch? Freeze them! These treats freeze beautifully in a zipper bag or airtight container. When your dog wants a snack, just pull one out and let it thaw for a few minutes.
Tips
The treats can be placed fairly close together on your baking sheet as they won’t spread much.
Allow the treats to cool completely before refrigerating otherwise moisture will condense in your container making the treats go bad faster.
Make sure the peanut butter you choose does not contain xylitol as it’s toxic to dogs. I like to use 100% peanuts peanut butter, as it has no added sugar or other ingredients, just peanuts.
Remember portion sizes when shaping the treats. Little dogs should get little treats, bigger dogs can get bigger treats (unless they are on a diet, then make them small treats).
Luna seldom gets more treats than Morgan because Luna has had issues with too much weight. We finally got her back to an acceptable weight and limit her treats to prevent the issue from happening again.
Remember, treats should only make up about 10% of your dog’s daily caloric intake.
Always consult your vet before giving your dog a new food, especially if they have allergies or other health issues.
