Ingredients

- 2 cups old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp natural peanut butter (make sure to choose a peanut butter that does not contain xylitol)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Start by mashing the banana with a fork.

In a mixing bowl, add the banana, applesauce, egg, and peanut butter.

Mix well.

Then add the old-fashioned oats.

Mix until all the oats are combined with the wet ingredients.
Spread the mixture on your prepared baking sheet.

Flatten it to about 1/4 inch thick. No need to use a rolling pin, just press it with your hands.
Precut with a pizza cutter or table knife and separate slightly.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Mine took 17 minutes.

Let cool.

Give one to your dog.

Then, store the rest in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
For longer storage, freeze in a freezer bag or other freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
Thaw before giving to your dog.
Tips
Baking for 15 to 20 minutes makes softer treats. For hard treats, bake longer. (I did not test out making crunchy treats as I prefer softer treats for my dogs).
I chose to just use my hands to press the dough out as it can be kind of sticky. Using a rolling pin may end up with a bunch of the dough stuck to it.
If you want other shapes, you can roll these and shape them by hand. Just keep to the 1/4 inch thickness for even baking.
Choose the size of the treats based on the size of your dog. Make them smaller for smaller dogs.
Always consult your vet before giving your dogs new foods.
